Grants
At the beginning of each school year we invite proposals
from practicing primary and second level teachers for innovative projects and resources
that demonstrate the integration of ICT into classroom teaching in a meaningful
and practical way. Interested teachers are asked to submit an online grant application where they can detail their proposal. Applicants should
possess basic web publishing skills in order to participate and if such skills
do not exist, there are number of web development courses available through the
network of education centres nationally.
All proposals are reviewed by the TeachNet mentor
team and the successful applicants are awarded a TeachNet Disseminator Grant.
This grant, valued at €600, is to cover any costs the teacher incurs in
developing their resources.
Those receiving Disseminator grants join the TeachNet
Community of practice where they are provided with a TeachNet hosted web
account. They are provided access to
both curriculum and technical mentors through a combination of email, phone and
a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). As
members of this community teachers engage with their peers in the process of
developing and refining their project. This
is a core tenet of TeachNet, teachers learning from their peers and engaging
predominantly in self-directed learning mediated by ICT.
In springtime we hold our Annual Awards Ceremony in Citigroup
Headquarters in the IFSC as a culmination to the process where teachers who
have successfully completed projects are presented with their grant cheque.
I
n addition to disseminator grants TeachNet also offers a small number of Mentor Grants annually.Mentor grants are awarded to experienced teachers who provide advice and support to a cohort of teachers. The mentor grants vary in size depending on the workload of the teachers involved. Mentor grants are limited to teachers who have previously taken part in the TeachNet programme.
Please Note: Currently we are not accepting applications.
