Check-Ups
"Check-Ups"
is a series of short assessments to cover some of the curriculum
strands for early mathematics. Some of the main strands of a mathematics
curriculum for younger children are: number, shape, measure and
data.A record can be kept of a child's attainment in the form of
a checklist (tick boxes), and, if necessary, follow-up work can
be provided, based on a child's performance in the checklists.

Who
is "Check-Ups" aimed at?
The intended
audience for "Check-Ups" can
be broken into two groups; the first is the group of students using
this resource to have their knowledge of baseline maths concepts
evaluated. My intended learning outcome for this group is that they
will have the basic maths concepts that they have acquired, evaluated
and consolidated by using my resource.
The second group of people who will visit my resource is teachers
and parents or carers
of this student group. My intention for this group is that, for
each student who uses the resource, the adult requesting them to
do so will have a checklist of mathematical concepts already acquired
by the student, and information on those mathematical areas needing
additional focused instruction.

All
of the web pages have a navigation bar at the top. There are links
to the six main sections of the web resource: index, parents,
teachers, check-ups,
links and downloads.
The index, parents, teachers,
links and downloads
sections contain information on that particular topic, while the
check-ups section contains links to the
test pages. Some instructions on the tests are given on each test
page, and there is a short animation showing how to complete a test
on a separate help page. You can download
a short user guide in Word
or PDF format.
There are two games a student can play,
while taking a rest between tests. At the end of a test the teacher
can see the students score and also which choices were selected
in each question.
