Overview

This project is designed to introduce Junior Cert Science students to the microscopic world. The Project should familiarise students with the parts of a microscope and best practice for its use. The project also describes using appropriate media how to prepare slides to examine plant and animal cells.

The aim of the project is to provide a resource that could be used to enhance students’ lab based investigation of plant and animal cells. It also provides worksheets which could be used to guide students investigation of this subject area. Interactive online tests are used to encourage students to think critically about what they experience both on the website and in the lab.

What You Need

This site provides a resource for students studying Junior Cert MicroscopyStudents can use this site individually or in small groups.It is best used to enhance normal teaching and laboratory work.

The entire section, Website, Teaching and Laboratory Work might take eight to ten periods.

The Project address topic 1c1 of the revised syllabus of the Dept of Education and Science.
