Web Quest on Pompeii and Ancient Rome

Strand:                       Ancient Civilizations  -   Ancient Rome

Duration:                   Over a period of 3/4 weeks

Objectives:   That the children will be enabled to:

• Navigate the internet by following directions given.
• Complete research tasks effectively, using the internet and other resources.
•  Describe life in Ancient Rome.
•  Apply their knowledge to conducting an interview on Ancient Rome.
•  Work as historians through gathering evidence from the internet.
•  Work co-operatively and collaboratively in pairs to complete their webquest.
•   Sequence events in Ancient Rome in chronological order.

It will provide opportunities for the children to:

• Improve their internet navigational skills.
• Develop their higher order thinking skills through questions and completion of complex tasks.
• Satisfy their own curiosity about Ancient Rome and enable them to do further research if they wish.
• Use their communication skills, both orally and written.
• Apply their both their creative and artistic skills to a historical context.
• Develop an interest in working as an Historian.
