How to prepare

Physics may seem to be a math’s based subject, however if you examine any paper you will see that a large proportion of the exam is just learning off by heart. The following is the most logical approach for your study-start learning and committing to memory now!!!!!!

1)      Definitions – obviously the best approach is to learn the ones that came up in the exam papers first, then the rest. These are a guaranteed 17% approx- easy marks!!!- please learn word perfect- write them down – get someone to hear you recite them. Look at last years paper and you will see that if you answered only the definitions in q5, 6, 7, 8, 9 you would have got 17%.

2)      Mandatory Experiments- learn the mandatory experiments exactly– there are 24 in total – These are essential for Section A of the exam and may be asked in section B.

3)      Non – mandatory experiments –very important as these will be asked in section B only

4)      Formulas – learn now!!!!

5)      STSthese are the practical applications of all the theories covered in the course – these must be learnt inside out!!!!– see STS section.

6)      Exam Papers-  There is so much repetition in the exam questions that you should be able to recognise and answer all the questions from the previous papers.

7)      Derivations – a very small % of the exam (about 5%)

8)      GO TO 1!!!
