Description

This is a cross curricular project, particularly suitable for Senior Cycle Religion and/or English – including Transition Year. It looks at the religious themes in a number of Shakespeare plays, including plays commonly studied for Junior and Senior Cycle. The focus is on particular speeches that highlight key themes. Students can study these as they listen to the speeches being read by an actor. They also have the facility of submitting material by email for assessment – assignments are suggested in each section. Three periods can be assigned if the material is to be covered play by play, but there is more flexibility if a thematic approach is taken – twelve themes are dealt with specifically.

Suitable for individual – small group or class group activity – Realplayer software (free basic player from www.real.com ) needed to play sound clips – Headphones desirable if sound clips to be used in group setting – Three periods needed if approaching the material play by play – Four or six periods needed if approaching the material by theme.
